Island (stylized Ísland in game and pronounced as Ees-land) is a nation situated on the island of Iceland. It was founded on the 7th of July, 2020 by user Mandaiore. The nation is a republic, with a government allowing for representation of each constituent town within its parliament, and is also a member of the Northern Confederation.
In its very early stages (first couple of days in existence), Island came under conflict with Irish colonies in Iceland, many of which would soon later declare independence under the nation of Ioslainn. No blood was shed during these initial conflicts, though plenty of debate occurred. The nations are at relative peace now, with talks of forming a dual-government. However, there are still conflicts and debates over claimed territories, which may sour the two's future relations.
Unlike many nations, Island has two official flags. The Civil Standard, representing the government and its people, consists of a map of Iceland in the top right canton, as well as a 20-pointed sun slightly offset to the bottom left. The National Flag is the modern flag of Iceland, with the saturation value slightly raised.
The capital and most populous town in Island is Reykjavík, which almost shares a name with an inactive town in the northeast of the island.
Government
The Islensku government has two constituent branches; the executive and popular branches. The executive branch is in charge of nation and town leadership as well as managing foreign affairs such as wars, alliances, and enemies. The popular branch is tasked with home affairs, such as infrastructure, town conflicts, claims, populace, and major projects. Issues involving the popular branch are settled in the Alþingishúsið, or Althing House, which is situated just outside of the nation spawn.
