The Al-Iihsan Mosque (Masjid Al-Iihsan/مسجد الاحسان/Mosque of Charity) is located in the town of Dakar in the district of Saint-Louis. It was built as the first Mosque in Africa.

The Mosque was built on the (23rd and 24th of February 2019) and, being the first Mosque in Africa is headed by a Mufti. The Mosque is specifically for followers of Sunni Islam, although they do allow for inter-denominational worship of all Muslims. The Al-Iihsan Mosque focuses on charity, and accepts donations which go towards helping disadvantaged others all over the world.

Religious Connections

The Mosque is led by a Mufti who serves as Imam. They live in the house across from the Minaret. The Mufti is seen as the first among equals of all African Muslims and it is planned that the Mufti will sponsor the building of other Mosques and the spread of Islam across Africa. Being of the Sunni tradition the Mufti recognizes the Caliph and superiors as having more weight behind their fatwas than the Mufti has.
