The Coronation of BonArc occurred on the 20th February 2021, lasting just under 10 minutes. It was located in Mogadishu and ended the reign of mrpoof_ as BonArc took over. BonArc would officially become leader a few minutes after being given the crown by mrpoof_.
Background[]
On the 5th February 2021, after a long period of inactivity, mrpoof_ would announce his intentions to abdicate the monarchy of Somalia in an announcement on the Somalia discord. The announcement would read:
"Well, @everyone who is still in this server, it is with mixed feelings that I make this announcement today: I intend to abdicate the Throne. On February 20, the 1st anniversary of Somalia, @"Mogadishu | BonArc will be crowned Pirate King of Somalia. It's certainly been a long time coming. I haven't been active in months, and have long thought of how to revitalize the nation. I now realize that I wasn't a very good choice for King in the first place. I've done nothing with the nation in the 8 1/2 months I've owned it. This is a good way to revitalize the nation. BonArc is still an active player who cares about Somalia, maybe the last one who does. I know I am leaving the nation in good hands with him. That being said, I invite you all to the handover ceremony on the 20th, I'll post the time later. Maybe, finally, Somalia will be revitalized. Long live Somalia!"
This was somewhat expected by some as he had not run in the last elections in Darya and questioned if he intended to stay active on EarthMC.
On the 17th February 2021, mrpoof_ would announce that the coronation of BonArc would take place on the 12th noon EST.

A small number of people would attend the coronation, mostly Nubians. The following were in attendance:

- cadenstolethetoe, Mayor of Nyala in Nubia
- MapleVK, Mayor of Odense
Delay of coronation[]
Setting King[]
Due to a lack of preparations, the leadership of Somalia did not know how to set BonArc as the new leader. He would ask gorkymoo1119 and twomoo1119 on how to do this. After a few minutes of discussion amongst the Somalis and Nubians regarding if they wanted Calula to become the capital or not. BonArc would wait for instructions for mrpoof_ during this time.
Calula temporary mayor[]
It was planned after discussion regarding the new leader that mrpoof_ would take over Calula. However, this would require a person to temporarily hold onto the town. Gorkymoo1119 would discuss the issue with twomoo1119, at which the idea of Slickss holding onto the town temporarily was suggested. Gorkymoo1119 would message MapleVK, asking if they could have Slickss for this purpose.
However, Slickss refused. MapleVK offered to take the town over temporarily to gorkymoo1119. This was accepted and gorkymoo1119 requested BonArc to invite MapleVK of which BonArc did. MapleVK would then be set as the mayor, with BonArc leaving Calula and joining Mogadishu. The coronation would then proceed.

After BonArc joined Mogadishu, the coronation would continue. Mrpoof_ would announce in chat 'I now formally abdicate the throne of Somalia! BonArc is now king!'. BonArc would be given the crown by mrpoof_ about 20 seconds later as a symbol of the transfer. About a minute later, mrpoof_ would officially set BonArc as leader in-game.
Aftermath[]
Around 3 hours after the coronation, BonArc would make their first announcement as leader, that read:
"Hey @everyone !
This is my first announcement as King of Somalia !
I don't like long speeches so I'll be brief
My goal is to restore Somalia to its former power.
I'm gonna need people, and I hope to find some. If you are interested in building, recruiting, negotiating or trading, come in my DMs !
Long live Somalia!"
